3 Simple Steps to Buying the Correct Golf Equipment

While out on the course I’m often asked about different types of golf equipment such as clubs, balls, putters, heck sometimes even about clothing.  I tell them my opinion and why I choose the equipment I do, but like many things in life it comes down to personal preference and what feels right for you.  This article will examine 3 simple techniques you can use to make sure you have purchased the correct equipment for you.

You must know what you need perfectly. The sign of a good golfer is that he always knows what he requires to play a certain shot. Same thing applies when you are out buying golf clubs. If there is something about your old set of clubs that needs to be changed, you should avoid the feature I the new set. Apart from getting the standard configuration, you can also broaden the options and go for a custom built. The most important point is to stay in control of the swing at all times.

The second thing you must do is test the golf clubs before you purchase them.  Most golf shops should have a net of some sort where you can go and practice your swing with the new club.  If possible use a machine to test your swing speed which is an important factor in choosing the correct golf club.

Purchase golf clubs with large club heads and perimeter weighting for more forgiveness. Buy golf clubs with smaller club heads for more control. The extra weight on the bottom of the club would help get the ball airborne.  If you are looking for distance be weary, you don’t want to get too big of a club head otherwise you may find your club too cumbersome. Sure you may be hitting the ball farther then you could have ever dreamed of, but it may be going that much further into the woods.  Do not go beyond 450 cubic centimetres, otherwise you will be having the problems that were mentioned above.  The length of the club shaft is also important, some of the best golfers in the world use around 44 to 45 inches.  Some even use around 43 inches, you will find that a shorter shaft will result in a decrease of distance, but more accuracy.
